Where the Night Comes Alive

Under the Stars, Off the Grid

Camping at NonPareil Ranch is simple, scenic off-grid camping in the Sierra Nevada foothills, just a few miles northeast of Bakersfield, California. If you’re passing through, visiting friends nearby, or simply need a quiet night away, this is a peaceful place to land. Park your RV, trailer, camper, motorhome, or set up a tent and settle into open foothill country where the nights are dark, the views stretch for miles, and the pace feels easier. As evening settles in, the quiet comes alive with crickets chirping, owls hooting, and the distant call of coyotes — the kind of natural soundtrack you only get when you’re truly outdoors. Horses and cattle are part of the surrounding landscape, and with plenty of room to spread out, the setting naturally stays calm and unhurried, making it an ideal place to unplug, rest, and recharge for a night or a full weekend.

Camping FAQ's

What does “off-grid camping” mean?

Off-grid camping means staying in a location with no hookups for power or sewer. You bring your own supplies and rely on your vehicle or gear for power and water — which makes the experience peaceful, simple, and self-sufficient.

Do you have hookups for RVs?

No — all camping at NonPareil Ranch is dry camping. There are no utility hookups, so guests should arrive with power sources (solar, battery, etc.), and any other essentials they need for their stay.

Is camping at the NonPareil Ranch good for tents and campers alike?

Yes! You can bring a tent, trailer, camper, RV, or motorhome. There’s plenty of space to spread out and choose a comfortable spot — just be prepared for dry camping conditions.

Plan to bring:

  • Portable restrooms supplies (restrooms are provided)
  • Food and cooking gear
  • Trash bags (pack in, pack out)

Being prepared will help you enjoy the peaceful setting without stress.
