Day Riding
Trailer in and enjoy the ranch from dawn to dusk. Ride scenic trails, challenge yourself on the trail obstacle course, or take a quiet loop around the property. We keep it simple, safe, and grounded in good horsemanship: strong footing, open space, and no pressure—just room to ride your way.
Overnight Camping

Your horse or mule will rest comfortably in a ranch pen, surrounded by fresh air and calm, open country. Many of our guests tell us their animals settle in quickly and rest more deeply here than anywhere else on the road.

Guests are welcome to explore the land on foot during their stay. Hike through the rolling hills, wander the open space, or just stand still and listen. It’s yours to move through while you’re here.

Located just a few miles northeast of Bakersfield, CA—right off Highway 99 near Merle Haggard Drive—NonPareil Ranch is a quiet, convenient stop for a safe, stress-free overnight stay for you and your horses or mules.
Whether you're hauling to a clinic, headed home from a rodeo, or just passing through, we offer calm surroundings and the kind of care that lets both you and your animals breathe easy.
Horse owners are welcome to camp on-site for an additional fee, or stay at a nearby motel in Bakersfield or surrounding areas while your animals rest at the ranch.
Stop in for a night or stay a few days. At NonPareil Ranch, peace of mind comes standard—and your horses will feel it too.

We want your time at NonPareil Ranch to be safe, simple, and enjoyable. Please take a moment to review the following before you arrive:
Getting Here
- Easy access via well-maintained roads
- Wide turnaround space for large rigs, campers, and living-quarters trailers
- Located just northeast of Bakersfield, CA — directions are sent after booking
Riding Hours
- Riding is permitted from dawn to dusk
Check-In & Check-Out
- Camping check-in after 2:00 PM
- All guests must be checked out by 10:00 AM unless staying another night or prior arrangements have been made
- Horses must be out of pens by 10:00 AM unless extending another night
- Please leave your campsite and ranch property as you found them
Ranch Guidelines
- Dry camping only -no hookups-off grid experience
- Generators allowed; sites are spaced for comfort and quiet
- Campfires permitted only when county conditions allow
- Dogs welcome on leash at all times
- Respect ranch property, livestock, and fences — if you open a gate, close it behind you
Safety & Waiver
- All guests — riders, campers, and horse-motel visitors — must sign a ranch liability waiver upon arrival
- Ride and camp at your own risk
- Children are welcome but must be supervised at all times

Do you accomodate large groups?
Yes, we do! All group sizes are welcome.
Can I bring multiple horses?
Yes! Extra horses are welcome for an extra fee per additional horse. However, no mares with foals or stallions are allowed. All horses will need to be tied, kept in a personal pen, or in one of our rental pens. Let us know in advance if you're bringing an extra horse so we can help accommodate your needs!
Can I bring my dog to the ranch?
Absolutely! We love having well-behaved dogs join the adventure, but for everyone's safety and comfort, they must be kept on a leash at all times. This helps ensure a stress-free experience for all campers, horses, and furry friends alike.
What should I know about the off-grid experience during my stay at the ranch?
Off-Grid Experience: Camping at NonPareil Ranch is all about embracing the great outdoors! All sites are dry camping with no electricity, giving you the chance to unwind under wide open skies. We have plenty of space, so arrive early to claim your perfect spot and settle in for a weekend of true outdoor living. Showers and bathrooms are available on-site for your comfort. In the evenings, gather around the campfire (depending on the time of year), share stories, and enjoy the camaraderie.
