Cowgirl Campout FAQ's

What is the cancellation policy for the campout?

Reservation deposits are non-refundable within 7 days of the campout. Due to our small group sizes, cancellations have a significant impact on our ability to plan and accommodate guests. We appreciate your understanding and encourage you to reach out as soon as possible if your plans change.

If we need to cancel due to weather, you may transfer your reservation to another available campout date.

Do I need to have a horse to attend a campout?

No, you don’t need a horse to have a great time! There’s plenty to do, from learning new skills to relaxing under the open sky and swapping stories around the campfire. Whether you’re riding or just here for the experience, you’ll be part of an unforgettable weekend!

Is there an age requirement for campouts?

Yes! The Cowgirl Campout is open to women 16 and older, and we welcome all ages—from young riders eager to learn to seasoned cowgirls with years of experience. Whether you're 16 or 85, if you have a love for adventure, the outdoors, and great company, you’ll fit right in!

Where will my horse stay and what do I need to bring for them for the weekend?

You have a few options for keeping your horse comfortable during the campout:

  • Rent an outside pen for the weekend (limited availability).
  • Tie to your trailer or bring your own portable panels
  • Use our highline if your horse is accustomed to it.

We provide alfalfa hay and water, but if your horse needs anything else, feel free to bring it along.

Spring nights can be chilly, so we recommend bringing a blanket (if your horse is used to being indoors) to keep your horse warm since they will be outside. If you have any questions or special needs, just let us know—we’re happy to help!

Can I bring an extra horse, and is there a fee?

Yes! Extra horses are welcome for an extra fee per additional horse. However, no mares with foals or stallions are allowed. All horses will need to be tied, kept in a personal pen, or in one of our limited rental pens. Let us know in advance if you're bringing an extra horse so we can help accommodate your needs!

Are the campouts suitable for all riding skill levels?

Absolutely! Our Cowgirl Campouts welcome riders of all skill levels, from beginners to seasoned horsewomen. Whether you're just starting out or have years of experience, you'll find a supportive and fun environment to ride, learn, and connect with fellow cowgirls.

Can I ride on my own instead of participating in scheduled activities?

Feel free to explore our ranch on horseback at your own pace if you'd rather skip the demonstrations or obstacle course. With wide open trails and breathtaking views, it's the perfect chance to enjoy the freedom of riding and soaking in the beauty of our land.

Do the campouts happen rain or shine?

It all depends on Mother Nature! Sometimes forecasted storms pass through without much impact, and the roads into the ranch remain in good shape. Other times, the weather makes travel difficult. We’ll keep a close eye on conditions and do our best to notify you the day before if any changes need to be made. Your safety and enjoyment are our top priorities!

If we have to cancel due to weather, you’re welcome to join us at another available campout date.

What should I know about the off-grid camping experience at the campout?

Off-Grid Experience: Camping at the Cowgirl Campout is all about embracing the great outdoors! All sites are dry camping with no electricity, giving you the chance to unwind under wide open skies. We have plenty of space, so arrive early to claim your perfect spot and settle in for a weekend of true outdoor living. Showers and bathrooms are available on-site for your comfort. In the evenings, gather around the campfire, share stories, and enjoy the camaraderie—just please be sure to bring your own chair to kick back and relax!

If camping isn’t your style, no worries! Hotels are just a short 15-20 minute drive into Bakersfield, so you can still enjoy the campout experience while having a cozy place to stay nearby.

What meals and drinks are included with my registration?

Your registration includes delicious, ranch-style meals, as well as plenty of water, coffee, tea and sodas to keep you refreshed throughout the weekend. If you have any food allergies, please let us know ahead of time, and we’ll do our best to accommodate within reason. You’re also welcome to bring your favorite alcoholic beverages to enjoy by the campfire!

Can I bring my dog to the campout?

Absolutely! We love having well-behaved dogs join the adventure, but for everyone's safety and comfort, they must be kept on a leash at all times. This helps ensure a stress-free experience for all campers, horses, and furry friends alike.

Do you offer gift certificates for the Cowgirl Campout?

Yes! Gift certificates are available and make a perfect gift for the cowgirl in your life. Simply purchase a weekend campout, and in the notes section, include the rider's name. It’s a great way to give the gift of adventure, friendship, and time in the great outdoors!
